Canadian startup Recon partners with UK’s ZerdaLab to revolutionize development of next generation AI powered drill bits for geothermal, oil and gas, and mining exploration 🇨🇦️️🌍⛽

Improving drilling performance influences geothermal, oil and gas and mining sectors’ economics, viability, scale, and delivery. Currently, a sea change in drilling performance is driven by a new innovation of high frequency data collection and analysis. Downhole logging presents a host of challenges which stem from the simple fact that all the action is happening deep below the surface in a brutal and harsh environment. Acquiring accurate and useful data out of such depths is critical but challenging.

The causes of most drilling inefficiencies are rooted in drilling dysfunctions and the extent of drilling dysfunction downhole is unknown. The roots of this deficiency include drilling teams not collecting enough dynamic data at the source downhole, even if the data were to be collected, there is only a small pool of experts to properly analyze and provide meaningful recommendations, and even when these high-value experts are engaged, it takes weeks of engineering analysis to get answers.

These drilling inefficiencies of lack of real time data and its analysis can lead to significant increase in cost and decrease in pace of drilling operations. These extra costs and delays can add up to a million dollars per drilling site

ZerdaLab is a specialty design firm that designs and creates drill bits for drilling scenarios that are both novel and challenging. “We have worked with Recon team to integrate their system into our drill bits. The data we collect is used to assess drilling dynamics and vibrations, validate drill bits design and selection to ensure continuous improvement of the product, and by extension, drilling performance and economics of wells” says Vasiliy Zbaraskiy, Chief Technology Officer of ZerdaLab.

“Partnering with Recon provides us with bit design flexibility and the data quality we need to accelerate our product development while improving our customers well delivery targets”, said Vasiliy.

“Recon is very happy to be able to partner with ZerdaLab. Their belief in our technology and willingness to leverage our technologies and expertise on what are arguably some of the most demanding projects in resource exploration has dramatically advanced our technology while simultaneously providing enormous benefits to their clients.” Says Nasim Morawej, co-founder of Recon.

Canadian startup Proceve partners with CMA to revolutionize enterprise software for the financial services sector 🇨🇦💼🪙

Globally, companies spend $1.6 Trillion annually developing custom software, with a 70% failure rate and $500 Billion in annual waste. While the bulk of the cost comes from development activities, the primary causes of failure are inadequate project management and constantly changing objectives and requirements. Despite the adoption of newer project methodologies, the overall situation has not changed and the cost, failure rates and waste are not improving.

Proceve has developed advanced technologies, for which they are currently pursuing various patents, that allow them to automate up to 95% of the typical development of complex enterprise software.  They have coupled this technology with a purpose-built enterprise project management system, which directly addresses the causes of failure in these large, complex projects. The combined offering gives companies the potential to save $1.5 Trillion annually, while eliminating risk and dramatically accelerating the pace of development.

Capital Markets Advisors (CMA) is a specialty consulting firm that advises the World’s largest Financial Services Firms on some of their most complex issues. “People don’t realize that the financial services sector is the largest sector for spending on Information Technology.  We regularly see our clients initiating software development projects with budgets in the $100’s of millions for a single custom system.” Michael Hartig, Managing Director of CMA.

“Partnering with Proceve, we have seen up to 97% automation on a custom software development project we did for a client.  This reduced what would otherwise have been years of work to only a few weeks.  Proceve’s technology provides our clients the opportunity to save millions in development costs on each project,” said Michael.

“Proceve is very happy to be able to partner with CMA.  Their belief in our technology and willingness to leverage our technologies and expertise on what are arguably some of the most demanding software development projects in the world has dramatically advanced our technology while simultaneously providing enormous benefits to their clients.”  Paul Michaud, Founder & CEO of Proceve.

Canadian startup SkillShark partners with Egypt’s Empower Football Academy to support women in sport 🇨🇦🙋‍♀️⚽️

Correct and timely feedback is essential for any athlete, especially for ‘non-traditional’ sports groups such as women. With better feedback to athletes, not only have a better chance to develop, but also a higher likelihood that an athlete will return to play the sport the following year. 70% of kids quit sports by age 13 and one of top reasons why kids quit is their own perceptions of their lack of competence at the sport. Research shows that participating in youth sports can lead to immediate and long-term benefits for youth, their families, and communities. This is especially important for groups such as girls, inner-city youth, under-privileged groups, and youth in under-resourced geographies.

Saskatoon based Skillshark’s Athlete Evaluation Software provides an efficient way to provide feedback to athletes and automatically determining what developmental material each athlete needs so they know exactly where to focus.

Skillshark is currently being used by Empower Women’s Football Academy to improve athlete development for young female soccer players in Egypt. “The software was super easy to learn,” said Farida Salem, Founder of Empower Football Academy. “I was able to explain to the team how to use it in just under 20 minutes. Everything about SkillShark is super-efficient and useful. This program is of such great use for our industry. We needed something like this a long time ago.”

Empower Football Academy is about more than just soccer. It’s about challenging perceptions and giving young women a place to grow, learn, and thrive in sports - a vital mission in a region where gender equality in sports is still progressing.

“We are honored to partner with such an inspiring role model as Farida and Empower Football Academy. Her mission to empower young women and set a powerful example of leadership is truly admirable. SkillShark is proud to support her in breaking barriers for girls in sports.” Neil Anderson, Founder of SkillShark.

About Empower Football Academy

Founded by Egyptian footballer Farida Salem, Empower Football Academy is dedicated to providing girls in Egypt with opportunities to excel in soccer. Since its launch in 2019, the academy has focused on not only developing athletic skills but also building confidence in young athletes and breaking down societal barriers. By offering training programs and mentorship, Empower Football Academy encourages young women to challenge stereotypes and pursue their dreams in sports and beyond.
